This 102-foot lighthouse, built in 1884 with a square pyramidal skeleton superstructure, is located at the east end of Sanibel Island. Its third-order lens had to be retrieved from the ocean floor by divers, when the ship transporting it from Europe sank en route. Sanibel is still active today, emitting its bright beacon to sailors and ships in the Gulf of Mexico. Boston LightWorks manufactures this original design by artist Justin Derrico. Overall lamp height is 25".
